Bromley Council are exploring ideas to develop affordable housing, workspace and public realm improvements on the site next to the Spa Leisure Centre
The site is situated between the Spa, the railway line and the Registry (old Capita) building. It is currently occupied by a car park and Lewis House, a living-support facility for disable people.
A public exhibition will be held at Beckenham Library from Saturday 24th February until Saturday 2nd March, where you can view the proposals.
Members of the project team will be at the exhibition in person to answer questions on the following dates:
Saturday 24th February, 9.30am – 12.30pm
Tuesday 27th February, 9.30am – 12.30pm
Wednesday 28th Febuary, 9.30am – 12.30pm
More detail can be found on Bromley Council’s website HERE, where you can also complete an online form to submit your views on the scheme.

Having been evicted from Lewis House, the service for disabled people (XbyX) has been marched off to a barren reservation in North St, Bromley, and frozen out of the Council’s public health network. Their rent has almost doubled, and the prospects for their survival are now bleak.
Bromley insists that it will provide an equivalent service when XbyX has faded from the picture, although I doubt that this is really true. And what, in any case, would be the point? It is painfully clear that the entire purpose is to free up public land for redevelopment.
The Council do not seem to know the difference between ‘affordable’ and ‘social rental’ accommodation, but even if these plans turn out to be of benefit to homeless people, it is completely wrong that this should be at the expense of those who are disabled.
The proposed development is too high at 8 storeys and3 the original 7 storey proposal was too high and as such out of keeping with the Conservation Area and neighbouring buildings.
The site is cramped and parking provision is needed.
Four storeys would be a better option or development on the other sites in Beckenham empty for many years
