Recently Hachette Publishing announced that Enid Blyton’s well loved books are to be updated, re-illustrated and digitised, for a new generation of children. This news has led some to ponder why Enid’s literary contribution has not been celebrated by a statue.
Should the children’s author have a statue where she spent her own childhood, in Beckenham?

I would encourage everyone in Beckenham to support the idea of a statue of Enid Blyton. It would contribute to the charcater of the town, encourage visitors who in turn support our shops and High Street.
Beckenham needs to rebuild its identity through heritage initiatives.
Bromley Council has undermined much of our Victorian heritage and we need to fight back.
The statue should be complimented with a history trail highlighting the places she lived in and where she went to school.
Yes, I endorse the idea. I suggest the statue be put in the heart of the area where Enid grew up in Beckenham i.e. the Clock House District. A statue on the piazza of the rescued Studio building would be an excellent location.
